Amy Lee allegedly wrote “Call Me When You’re Sober” about the frontman of Seether, Shaun Morgan, her ex-boyfriend. Shaun Morgan responded by saying that the fellow South African musician had left herself open to criticism.

Shaun Morgan said in an interview, “What she didn’t factor into the equation of Amyland is I now have to deal with idiots on a regular basis that take her word as gospel. I have to now deal with morons like that. The other night, I walked out of a hotel in Toronto, and someone was blaring ‘Call Me When You’re Sober’ parked right in front of the hotel. They started playing it as I walked out of the hotel. I don’t know what they were trying to prove or what their motivation was. I know it certainly wouldn’t have been the case if she hadn’t gone and told everyone, you know what I mean? It’s like kicking someone when they’re down, but she’s good at that. Whatever.”

Shaun Morgan was the bigger man with his latest album and refrained from any direct response to Amy Lee. However, one song, “Breakdown” features the lyrics, “So break me down if it makes you feel right/ And hate me know if it keep you all right.”

Seether, who happen to be from South Africa, is returning in June for a much anticipated tour with four dates.

First, the band will be at the arena at Grand West Casino & Entertainment on 15 June. The next day on 16 June, Seether will be playing at Johannesburg’s Standard Bank Arena. The show four days later on 20 June will be held at Durban’s Wave House. Finally, the tour will come to a close on 21 June at the Port Elizabeth UPE Indoor Sports Center.

The band Seether has not played a concert in South Africa since they were there two years ago. On that tour, they played with great bands such as Metallica, Simple Plan, The Rasmus and Collective Soul. The band, who is known worldwide, will be traveling to South Africa as part of their European tour. When not on tour, they are generally chilling out in Los Angeles.

The leader of the band, Shaun Morgan Welgemoed, said he loves to come back to South Africa to perform. He says it fills him with pride to walk out on the stage and see all of the South African fans in the audience.

Seether, is not unknown. It is a grunge band that is gaining popularity despite their image sometimes being mistaken as being gothic or metal. A band that currently signed to the Wind-up Records. Originally, they are known as Saron Gas and signed to the Musketeer Records in South Africa. They changed the name in 2002 with the release of their second album, Disclaimer. The very first album is known as Fragile.

They are a really good band with great singer and excellent songs to vow the crowd. This band have been going through some changes in the people line-up yet they manage to produce high quality music thus make the fans even love them more. The band has had collaborations with many other artists such as Amy Lee from Evanescence singing the song ‘Broken’. The song ‘Broken’ was featured in ‘The Punisher’. Other than Amy Lee, they are reported to be on tour with Flyleaf.

The band started out as a three person band but later developed to four people band. The latest band members are Shaun Morgan as the vocal and guitarist, Dale Stewart as the bass, John Humphrey for the drums and Troy McLawhorn for the lead guitarist. So far there are six albums out from the very beginning until the present. Soon after Disclaimer, they released Dislaimer II, Karma & Effect, One Cold Night and the latest one is Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces.

You know that really strange looking English girl who sings that song about “Rehab”, that’s a brilliant tune and she has a great voice but have you heard Seether’s version of it? They did it for some website or something but man, it is such a good version. I’m not a fan of that sort of English music but you could hear that Winehouse had a brilliant voice and the way she sang “No, No, No” was always really funny and I ended up really liking the song.

Well, I probably don’t need to say how excited I was when I heard that Seether had covered it and Shaun Morgan did a brilliant job in doing a great version of it and I probably like their version even better than Amy’s original. Sorry Amy, I know you’ve had a rough time lately but when one of your favourite bands does a brilliant cover then you cant but help take their side. Who’d like to see Amy do a cover of a Seether track?

I think she’d do a good version of “Broken”, you know the acoustic one from “One Cold Night” but it wouldn’t be as good as the original though. Amy’s good but Seether is great!

I first got into Seether because I had a major crush on Amy Lee from Evanescence and I used to love everything that she did and when I heard that she did the song “Broken” with Seether, well that was me hooked on a new band as well. Okay, theres been a fall out since then but its kinda funny because I’m now a massive fan of Seether and I don’t really listen to Evanescence any more. Still, I suppose that’s all part of growing up and anyway, Seether have so many better songs that it is not a hard choice to like one over the other.

My favourite Seether song is definitely “Truth” from the “Karma & Effect” album because it starts off really beautiful and the verse is something that all your family would like but when it gets to the chorus it powers up and gets really angry.

I don’t always like angry music but at least when Seether do it you can still make out the words as opposed to some bands who just seem to shout and scream for no real reason. You also know that this song would be amazing to see the band play live so hopefully I can get to see them at some point soon and I can hear how good it is.

Have you heard “Rise above this” by Seether yet? Its an excellent rock song that manages to be really poppy and have a lot of sing-a-long sections but also has a big throaty shouty section that you cant help join in with.

And as for the guitar solo near the end, it is brilliant, it’s slow paced but its really tuneful and it picks up a high pitch before the vocals come back in. If you haven’t heard this song yet, you really need to go and grab a hold of it or sit in front of the video channels until it comes on because it’s such a good song. I’ve always been a big fan of Seether for a few years but I really think that this is their best song yet and I hope that everyone agrees.

I can’t wait until they come back to New York in May because that song is going to sound so good when it is played live and I’m so stoked to see them again. If you haven’t seen Seether live yet, then whets stopping you? They’ve got a big tour on now so get yourself a ticket and go and see the boys have a rocking night out.

One of the things I really love about Seether is that even though they have been through some line-up changes and the people in the band have changed about, they still make kick-ass music, no matter who is involved in the process.

I know a lot of this is down to Shaun Morgan and his great songs and Dale Stewart has been around for a good few years on the bass but theres been a good few changes in the other people in the band but they still keep going on and I think they’re as good now as they ever have been at any point in their career.

You’ve also got to say that Shaun has battled through so many problems that its great to see the band still fighting their corner and I only hope that he is safe now and well on the road to recovery.

Then again, they say that great rock songs come from pain and anger so perhaps its better as a fan to have him in some discomfort but I really think that even if Shaun was really happy in his life, he’d be able to still write some excellent songs so as long as he is okay, he can do what he wants!

You know when I first got into the music of Seether, it was when I kept hearing their music cropping up on the WWE shows all the time. I was running around asking my friends if they had heard of the band but no one seemed to know until one day some kid at school told me it was a band called Seether and ever since then I’ve been a huge fan! They really rock and their music goes so well with the Word Wrestling shows, there’s just so much excitement that it’s a perfect match

I was really hooked on it by the time that “Remedy” was used on the 2005 Summerslam and although I’m not really into wrestling as much these days, I’m still a huge fan of Seether and I can’t wait until I finally get to see them in concert as you know it’s going to rock so much!

I hope everyone else likes Seether as much as I do but in a way I don’t really care because even if it was just me who liked them, I would still think that Seether are excellent and wouldn’t worry about what anyone ever said about them.
